    Post-Dissertation period

Haha... it's been a long time again, let me summarize my life after the submission of dissertation... in bullet points >< (I was thinking about putting it in an expression that would capture reader's heart.. but what the hell, can't be bothered and not in the mood)
    • I finally managed to write my own acknowledgement page, which I think it was so-so.. not really expressed the whole year in a sentence, but that was not bad either. My proofreader, Kate, told me it was good... which makes me feel a bit better :)
    • On Friday (15 Sep) I submitted my dissertation... in fact I was just going to get them bind and keep for the weekend, but with all the pressure from Lab's ppl, they told me to submit right away so I can take weekend off... so I did ^_^ It incredibly felt good after that, that was all, my whole year...
    • On Monday (18 Sep), the deadline for dissertation, I went up to the uni again to meet all my course mates, in the afternoon, we gathered near the lake in front of library and opened champagne to celebrated. Yes, I am dying to have those photos... no one pass them around yet ><
    • After that we went to Bristol, was going to bowl but apparently it was too far away so we just ended up take some walk and sit in a couple of pub in Bristol. Chatting as usual, it was always fun!
    • I went home around 8pm to pack my stuffs, surprisingly, on top of those shipping home boxes, I still got loads to pack... plus, the major problem was weight of the bag... argh! I have to manage it to 20 kg... I still need to put two of my external HDD in, which will cost around 5 KG >< that's really hard to do
    • I ended up packing until very late.. very early in the morning, so that day I had only 3 hours sleep... in the morning I packed everything again and it still look like mess in my room... what the heck. We all moved the stuffs to P'Yod's home, and grab a taxi and move my friend stuffs to her new place.. that was real tiring... anyway, after all was done, it was done
    • Around 3PM, me and Jeab went to Bristol airport to catch a plane to Toulouse... By that evening, the news about coup d'etat in BKK was spreading around already...
    • We arrived Toulouse that night, went to Boy's house and rest big time
    • 3 Days (20,21,22 Sep) were spent in Toulouse, we took a BIG walk in town on the first day (20 Sep), and it was too hot!!
    • On second day (21 Sep) we went to Space museum, which was Toulouse's hightlight, I enjoyed it a lot because it was like watching movie in the big screen... loved it loved it, plus the weather wasn't as ugly as the previous day.
    • 22 Sep, we took a train to Barcelona, Spain... arrived around noon and walked around in town, went up a cathedral and walking around in the streen, in the evening there was a festival that last 3-4 days, it's called La marce. We spent the night at the hostel in the centre of the main road
    • 23 Sep, went to the aquarium for the morning, then chilling at the port, and walking around to Barcelona Football Stadium and to the garden and art gallery.
    • 24 Sep, went around to see all Gaudi's architecture, first was the Sagrada, then the others building follows... Surprisingly, we even had time to chill in the park near the Arch that evening.. and enjoyed the wind breeze
    • 25 Sep, last day in Barcelona, we went to the big castle that located on top of the hill, and it was really hard walk, after all these days. Also went to what's like spain neighbourhood in the past.. it was quite nice though. After that, we just relax and wait for the train time. Arrived Toulouse at night.. I packed again to move
    • 26 Sep, my flight was around 10.30 am, not too hurry but a bit early... I took a flight back to Gatwick airport, UK and took a train to Bournemouth straight away... relaxed all evening
    • 27 Sep, Spent the whole day in room.. watching movies.. just like my dream haha. Finally I finished the book "Just one look", it was quite a thrill, loved it loved it
    • 28 Sep, today.... writing my blog here

PS: All the photos still need to wait....

    Me and my dissertation

    Dear all,
It's been a while since my last update.. well, I was quite busy with my dissertation. Although I am saying that, now I'm writing my blog.. haha

Below gets quite technical.. so skip it if you don't want to know
Anyway, just to keepsake of my memory, I'll use today's space as to describe my dissertation.
My dissertation's title is Alpha Compositing. It's mainly about creating a program that takes in some images and make a result image by various way, depending on what you input. The significant feature of this software is that it can takes in normal sentence, with parentheses to indicate the order of preference. Also, it is quite flexible in size because it has the extended function to takes in coordinates and stuffs .. which I'm quite glad that I can did it. Although the method was a bit hacky.. lol

So, my software is done, although still full of some other things that I wanna do with it, for example adjust lighting and animation , blah blah.. I didn't have a chance to develop them. Now it's only less than two weeks left, so I must finish my write up and prepare for hand in my project. No time left to play around >< so sad..

I don't know why my overall plan for my dissertation document gets to 8 chapters, but maybe because Phil (my supervisor) told me to separate test result chapter out of system testing.. I'm quite confused though, but whatever, just get it done.. one extra chapter wouldn't make anyone die anyway. lol

As I say that my dissertation has total of 8 chapters... today I just finished chapter 5, safely... although I'm running behind my schedule for 2 days now >< I feel like I've been working on this chapter for ages.. This chapter alone takes up 10,000 words and that really sounds ridiculous.. maybe later on I might have to cut some Pseudo Codes out... >< (when it gets to system implemenation, it's always like this)

Another 13 more days to go and I'll be done with this course... I reckon I will be able to write acknowledgement page in about 3-4 days, finger cross ^_^. Finally I will have my own ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PAGE... I really looking forward to it. If you have been reading my blog, you would know that one day 5 months ago I was mumbling about how proud would it be to be able to write my own acknowledgement page..

In case you forgot, let me remind...
5 months ago, I was digging through past dissertations about what to do for my project and who should I apply to be my supervisor. I found some acknowledgement pages in some dissertation quite touchy.. one of them was my favorite. He was probably Chinese guy according to his name... in his acknowledgement page, he began with..
"9 months ago I started this course.. and here I am, at the final stage"
Isn't it touchy? I love it so much... yes, it's just so true. Time really flies.

Recently I've been getting in touch with my dearly old friend from Japan, well.. not like very often but at least I know he's not gone forever. I realize one thing that I have been denied for all my life that is... people can really change.. even though you don't want them to. Just a few lines of e-mail for once or twice a week, that's enough to make me know that he has changed. At least, he intended to change himself for his sake. I guess... well, I'm not talking about romantic relationship here.. it's just the way of language thing.

Now.. I should really get back to work on chapter 6, although I'm still unclear... but should have something ready ><
Can't wait to go back home now...
